Electrical Switchgear: Overhead SF6 Switches

G&W offers a variety of distribution switches for 15.5 through 38kV overhead systems. Switches are available for either direct pole or crossarm mounting, and can be operated manually or through various remote control, distribution automation or automatic transfer control packages. Various styles are available depending upon system rating requirements.

Maximum operator safety — G&W overhead electrical switchgear is designed with all critical contact components totally protected from the environment within a sealed, SF6 insulated tank. SF6 is a nontoxic, nonflammable dielectric with excellent arc quenching properties. Contact position indicators clearly identify contact position. External switch operators can be padlocked for tamper-resistance. Electronic controls can automatically prohibit operation if the gas pressure falls below proper operating levels. The result is maximum operator safety.

Minimal maintenance — G&W SF6 puffer distribution switches are factory filled, hermetically sealed and production tested according to applicable IEEE and IEC standards for high voltage switchgear. Checking the pressure gauge is all that is required prior to operation.

Bushing flexibility — G&W offers a variety of bushing styles to accommodate specific user requirements. Bushing styles include porcelain, elastomeric and an exclusive porcelain over epoxy bushing with integral voltage sensor for automation or automatic transfer applications.
