PATR GIS and Oil Immersed Terminations


G&W’s PATR style transmission terminations are designed for gas insulated substation and oil immersed equipment applications on extruded dielectric cable systems rated 69kV, 145kV, and 245kV. This specification covers the requirements for a transmission voltage, extruded dielectric cable terminations for SF6 Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) applications. The termination design shall be G&W style PATR and suitable for use on single conductor cables through 245 kV. The terminations shall be used on copper or aluminum conductor cable with extruded insulation from 240-2500 mm2 (500 - 5000 kcmil).

The terminations shall be designed, tested and built in accordance with applicable sections of IEC 840, IEC 859, IEEE 48 for Class 1 terminations, AEIC CS7 and AEIC CS6. The terminations shall be rated:

    - Contact pad style suitable for GIS or oil immersed transformer applications
    - Stem connector style suitable for oil immersed transformer applications. 
  • Epoxy insulator with built-in cable shield break
  • Mechanical shrink stress cone
  • Dielectric fluid
  • Connector with double “O”-ring seal
  • Aluminum base plate
  • Aluminum clamping ring
  • Aluminum entrance housing with heat shrink seal
  • Cable preparation kit includes: grease, sandpaper, PVC tape, heat shrink seal, solder, flux, tinned copper ground braid and grounding lugs.

• Bi-metallic crimp-type or migweld bi-metallic connector with silver-plated copper top

• Wiping sleeve entrance
