GIS Terminations - 72.5 to 245kV

General
This specification covers the requirements for a transmission voltage, extruded dielectric cable terminations for SF6 Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) applications. The termination design shall be G&W style PATR and suitable for use on single conductor cables through 245 kV. The terminations shall be used on copper or aluminum conductor cable with extruded insulation from 127-2000 mm2 (250 - 4000 kcmil).

Standards and Ratings

The terminations shall be designed, tested and built in accordance with applicable sections of IEC 840, IEC 859, IEEE 48 for Class 1 terminations, AEIC CS7 and AEIC CS6. The terminations shall be rated:

Standard Components
• Epoxy insulator with built-in cable shield break
• Stress cone
• Dielectric fluid
• Retained “O” ring seals on top and bottom
• Silver-plated copper or aluminum crimp-type connector.
• Silver-plated connection interface
• Aluminum body
• Clamping ring
• Aluminum cable entrance and heat shrink cable jacket seal

Options
• Bi-metallic crimp-type or migweld bi-metallic connector with silver-plated copper top.
• Wiping sleeve entrance.
• Horizontal mounting.
