Padmount or vault applications
Latest Solid Dielectric Technology — Trident switches utilize G&W's time proven EPOX technology quality system using Vantico Araldite CW 229 polymers. This system provides excellent mechanical and electrical insulation properties while assuring rugged, void-free, submersible construction. Other EPOX products include junction bars, encapsulated fuses and switchgear entrance bushings. A permanently bonded, external semi-conducting coating provides a fully shielded, deadfront design and allows 100% factory testing for partial discharge. The encapsulated internal shield forces all of the electrical stress into the epoxy material therefore the electrical integrity of the design does not depend on the ambient air.
Maintenance
Benefits — Solid dielectric insulation
means no more oil, no more gas and no more air insulated
concerns. That means no more routine switch maintenance.
Application
Versatility — Trident switches are compact,
submersible and ideal for vault applications. Padmount
designs permit a variety of bushing orientations for
single side access or for separate compartments if desired.
Operating handles can be orientated for side or front
operation.
Tested
Reliability — Switches are designed and
tested to applicable ANSI C37.71, ANSI C37.60, ANSI
C37.72, IEEE 386, IEC 265, IEEE 592 and ANSI C119.4
standards.
Mounting
Flexibility — Switches can be mounted in
any attitude to suit specific application requirements.
Mounting brackets and straps are stainless steel for
maximum corrosion-resistance. Parking stands are available.
Spring
Mechanism — Switches incorporate integral
magnetic actuator for high speed operation.
Contact
Position Indicator — Large viewing windows
simplify visible verification of open (green) or closed
(red) vacuum contact position. The position indicator
is connected directly to the drive assembly.
Electronic
Trip And Cabling Options — For fault interrupting
switches, a variety of electronic trip modules are available
to match most common protection TCC curves. One option
provides a single curve, single setting which eliminates
the need for any external connector or cabling. Programming
via laptop computer or built-in LCD display are also
available options. Electronics are powered by CTs encapsulated
inside the module. No external power is required.
Cable
Entrance Flexibility — Cable entrances
can be either 200A deepwell or 600A apparatus style
IEEE 386 interfaces for accepting elbow style connectors.
The module orientation can be any 90° configuration
permitting cable entry from the front, side or back
of the unit. The rugged epoxy surfaces minimize the
breaking force required for removing separable connectors
compared to rubber-to-rubber junctions.
Ordering
Flexibility — Solid dielectric insulation
permits modular construction. This means the user can
specify the switch that best meets their application
requirements. Start with a load break switch. Add a
fault interrupting switch way if you wish. Single phase
or three phase. Or maybe current limiting fuses. Need
remote control? Add a switch module or fault interrupter
with remote acutator. Choose from a variety of electronic
control options. Whether it's a padmount or vault application,
front access or separate cable and operating compartments,
you decide. G&W Trident switches provide an extremely
flexible solution.
