G&W Viper-ST solid dielectric, triple option reclosers combine the time proven reliability of electronically controlled, vacuum fault interrupters with the maintenance benefits of a solid dielectric insulated device. The triple option feature offers ultimate user flexibility by permitting three distinct mechanical operation modes, either 1-phase trip / 1-phase lockout, 1-phase trip / 3-phase lockout or 3-phase trip / 3-phase lockout. The reclosers are designed for automatic or manual trip operation providing overcurrent protection for systems rated up to 38kV maximum, 800A continuous, and 12.5kA rms symmetrical interrupting. The units can also be used for sectionalizing, automatic transfer, loop scheme, automatic restoration and dead line operation. | Features: |  | Latest Solid Dielectric Technology - Viper-ST reclosers utilize G&W’s time proven EPOX polymer system to fully encapsulate the vacuum interrupters. This system provides excellent insulation properties while providing fully shielded, void-free construction. All modules are UV protected and 100% factory tested for partial discharge. A voltage sensor and multi-ratio current transformer are encapsulated within each module. Current transformers provide either 500:1 or 1000:1 protection characteristics and are field changeable. | | Operator Safety - Vacuum interrupters are sealed within a solid dielectric insulation. A hookstick operable manual trip and lockout handle is provided for each phase and is clearly visible and operated from the ground. The lockout handle prohibits operation either from the control or remotely if part of an automation scheme. An open and closed contact indicator shows the position of the contact of each phase. A handle is provided for each phase, providing manual hookstick and lockout operation. Pulling the handle down trips and locks out the selected phase. A contact position indicator is provided indicating open or closed status for each phase. The contact status is also displayed at the recloser control. Operation of the manual open handle(s) disables any local or remote closing operation until the handle is reset. Once reset, the recloser can be closed using the control. |
