Underground Distribution Switches
Since 1905, G&W has provided custom power solutions to utilities and electric power users around the world. G&W entered the switch market in the early 1920s and has since developed one of the most extensive lines of underground switchgear for systems rated through 38kV, 900A continuous current available today.
Padmount or Subsurface / Vault Application
Padmount switches incorporate tamper-resistant enclosures offering either front access or front/back access to cables connections and operating apparatus. Subsurface / vault switches can be wall or floor mounted for underground installations, whether dry or fully submersible.
SF6 Switchgear or Solid Dielectric Insulated Switchgear
G&W has been providing SF6 switchgear since the mid-1960s. One of the industry’s most popular switching dielectrics, SF6 gas offers many advantages over other available insulating mediums. G&W also offers a complete line of solid dielectric switches using the latest technology epoxy switching insulation. Encapsulating vacuum interrupters within epoxy modules, this style of high voltage switchgear offers construction flexibility with add-on versatility. Fully tested and time proven
Switches are designed and tested to IEEE and IEC standards to assure proper application and operator safety. Arc resistant designs are also available. Some G&W switches are still in service since the 1950s which is a testament to their time-proven quality.
Switches can be operated either manually or through various distribution automation packages. Whether the application involves load switching, line sectionalizing, fault interruption or distribution automation, G&W can provide a quality solution for your particular application.
