G&W Congratulates Donald R. Martin as he Retires
June 29, 2018
Bolingbrook, Illinois, June 29, 2018 – Today, we are delighted and disheartened to announce that Donald R. Martin is retiring. Don has been an invaluable employee, with 30 years of service to G&W Electric Company.
Don started his journey with G&W in December of 1988 where he worked with the product realization team. His first major design was the linear puffer SF6 switch that led to an incredible relationship with Southern California Edison.
Over the years, Don was an integral part of G&W’s SF6 equipment creating countless designs and parts that are now industry standards. He has contributed to every module and mechanism that G&W makes. Don’s contributions weren’t limited to SF6, in 2011 he invented the World’s First Visible Break Solid Dielectric Switch.
“I look back on the growth of the company and it is amazing,” said Don. “I have seen the company go from small-scale manufacturing to today's large-scale international operations.”
Don will miss working with the friends he's made at G&W but looks forward to spending time with his family; including his wife, Karen and four grandchildren. Don says he will not be a stranger and looks forward to popping in for a visit now and again.
Don’s wisdom and insight on technical issues, his ability to clarify the path forward and his ‘Don Said’ references which made him the Oracle of G&W Electric, will be missed by all.
We wish Don the very best as he takes a long and much-deserved vacation.
